Detoxification not a panacea Cure Drug Addiction

Detoxification
PARENTS who have children exposed to narcotics generally feel confused, so try to do a variety of ways to address them. One way is to eliminate the influence of narcotics in the body through the detoxification process. The problem is, after the "poison" was missing, whether the problem is completed? For temporary, may be said so. But without any further action is difficult to expect users of narcotics will be cured. One problem faced by addicts do not just physical problems, more importantly, psychological and social problems which require the handling quite a long time.According to Program Director Terracotta, Faisal N Afdhal, about the handling of victims of narcotics. He admitted that he was surprised about was the number of parents who really do not understand the handling of victims of narcotics.
"If a few years ago, I still can understand. But now even this is still a lot of parents who rely on healing with detoxification," he said. As if the detoxification is an elixir that can cure drug addiction.
Some people actually addicted to repeated eight times more expensive detoxifying.
"In fact there are 12 times," said Faisal. "This is a proof that the addict will go back and re-taking the drug because of the urge to go there is huge," he said.
Propensity to consume narcotics that he had the greater use occurred in those who had been taking for a long time. Detoxification cleanses the body of the only remnants that still exist in the blood. While sugestinya contained in the mind is still attached.
Without detoxification
Still does not mean that detoxification is not necessary. But detoxification is only the beginning of the process that should be passed before an addict can distance themselves from the desire to consume addictive substances.
According to Faisal, to remove the remaining drug in the blood could have removed themselves without having to stay in a hospital detox. The process is not a day or two days and the victim suffered enough when having to go through this process. Diarrhea, bone pain extraordinary, a result that must be paid when an addict wants to decide himself of drugs, narcotics are usually consumed.
"If baseball stand, he could consume addictive substances," said Faisal who since 1998 continue to deepen the therapeutic community method as an effort to recover from addiction. Through specific programs, therapeutic community, among others, seeks to create emotional maturation.
To decide the drug, addicts need someone who is expected to be offset when he was serving a withdrawal from the drug. Those who are most suitable to accompany those who have become addicted too, so that it can be expected to better understand the feelings and suffering being experienced by addicts.
"Just as important, during this time there should be no goods (medicine) around, because it will be really tempting," so according to Faisal.
Based on experience, the third day is the hardest day to go. On the next day or the fifth day is usually the cleaning process is complete. Addicts are not physically feel pain when not taking narcotics.
Disease
However narcotics addiction is a disease that must be cured by the concerned with the help of others. Concerned may be desperate to be free from dependence, but he was helpless.
The disease which is categorized as a chronic disease, meaning those who have experienced addiction did not feel anything or feel normal like everyone else. He still perform daily tasks, can walk, can go to school, and even can work like most people. It's just he feels can not be separated from the drug.
Addictive state is not dependent on how long someone has been taking narcotics. People who had consumed three or four times already addictive narcotics can be called when he felt bad when not taking the drug.
They are already taking narcotics for so long subject to change, not just the physical but also psychological and social. Therefore, many families are overwhelmed addict addict behavior is "bizarre".
"That's, after his body free from drugs, there are actually other things that are still remaining, namely its influence on the nervous system of the brain," said Faisal.
So in many cases, though someone had stopped physically and clean from drugs, it is not impossible he suffered paraniod and skizoprenia. Mental illness is especially experienced by those who are relatively long lived with narcotics.
Terracotta Foundation, one of dozens of foundations in Jakarta, that specializes in handling victims of narcotics, dividing the program in three stages. The first program they called the primary program lasts six months, followed by subsequent program-re-entry-about six months as well.
If at first the program emphasis is on self-improvement and behavior, on the next step is more directed towards social reintegration.
"The principle is holistic healing program, also includes the management of emotional or psychological," said Faisal. "All the habits of drug use for many years had an impact on feelings or emotions, thoughts and outward behavior."
After the second pass the program, the next is the stage of after-care which is the final step of the overall program. At this stage the former users have been considered capable of returning to their environment. They no longer have to live in a place of rehabilitation, but may choose to stay home or be resident in rehab. Those living in rehabilitation homes are required to have activities outside of school or work.
Narcotics are not kidding.
"Even if someone had stopped wearing two years, five years or ten years, it is not impossible at one time would slip," said Faisal.
He likens this narcotic addiction disease like diabetes that can not be cured, but can be maintained.
